Iran, Belarus Private Sectors Have High Potentials to Bolster Mutual Cooperation, Official Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chairman of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) said on Sunday that the private sectors of Iran and Belarus enjoy many potentials and capacities to broaden their bilateral cooperation in relevant fields.

Gholamhossein Shafei made the comment in his meeting with the Belarusian Ambassador to Iran Dmitry Koltsov in Tehran on Sunday, saying Iran and Belarus’s private sectors enjoy high capacities to enhance their bilateral ties, especially in the field of technical and engineering services as well as the agricultural sector.

Highlighting the positive interactions between the two countries over the past years, he said that Belarus is one of Iran’s priorities in the development of trade and economic ties since this European country has had the proper status over the previous years in terms of economy and growth of gross domestic product (GDP).

Development of infrastructures such as roads, bridges, dams, etc. is one of the policies of the Belarusian government, Shafei said, adding that Iran enjoys high potential in the export of technical and engineering services and can help this European country boost its economy optimally.

The official termed a visit last year by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Belarus as the outset of a new chapter of cooperation and interaction between the two countries and added that the signing of seven cooperation documents during the visit created new capacities for the two states.

He went on to say that Iran and Belarus have established good cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The plenipotentiary ambassador of Belarus to Iran, for his part, said that the two countries have established longstanding and age-old relations with each other and that the delegations of the two countries have carried out expert-level talks in different levels in recent years.

Koltsov stated that Belarus is interested in bolstering its cooperation with Iran in all fields, noting that the trade exchange between Iran and Belarus tripled last year (ended March 20, 2023).
