Iran’s Crude Oil Output Surges 3.3 Million bpd: Owji
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s oil minister said the country’s real and proven crude oil production volume has reached 3.3 million barrels per day (bpd), showing a considerable hike compared to years before.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Cabinet’s weekly meeting Wednesday, Javad Owji said the oil production volume will rise to 3.4m bpd by the end of summer.
On Monday, he said Iran’s oil production had not exceeded 2 million bpd before the current administration took office, adding the country’s current crude oil production capacity stands at 3.8 million bpd.
Owji also said the Oil Ministry and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade are jointly following a plan to reduce air pollution.
Production of electric vehicles (EVs) for public transportation fleet is among the other projects the two ministries are seriously pursuing, the oil minister stated.
The Oil Ministry will grant credit equal to saved fuel on the basis of the Persian Gulf free on board (FOB) price to those who make investments in this sector, he said, SHANA reported.
The plan gives first priority to taxis and pickup trucks, Owji said, adding that the project will help reduce air pollution to a great extent.
