US Plotting to Upset Security in SE Iran: IRGC General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force warned of the US plots to foment insecurity in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

The IRGC has detailed information that the US has been holding meetings and communicating with anti-Iran groups to plot to create insecurity in Sistan and Balouchestan, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said in a conference attended by the tribal chiefs, religious leaders and military commanders of the southeastern province.

The general warned that the Americans have established relations even with hostile groups whose activities are not confined to that province.

Pointing to sporadic hostile activities in Sistan and Balouchestan in recent months, the commander said all anti-Revolution elements --including the terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO), the PKK terrorists and the secessionist groups that are active in other parts of Iran-- are pushing to portray the southeastern province as unsafe in order to overshadow the Islamic Republic’s efforts at the development of the province.

He also stated that the Zionist regime, known as the heart of the US’ regional policies, has been left alone because the US has concentrated on the Ukraine war and has suffered failures in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Since a couple of years ago, the IRGC has been tasked with ensuring the security of southeastern border areas in cooperation with local residents.

Located in the southeast of Iran, Sistan and Balouchestan borders Pakistan and Afghanistan and has a long coastline by the Sea of Oman.
