Gaza Death Toll from Israeli Attacks Crosses 5,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The toll on Palestinian lives has risen dramatically, with at least 5,087 people killed and 15,273 wounded as the Israeli pressure on healthcare efforts in Gaza continues, according to Palestinian health authorities.
The Palestinian health ministry in the besieged Gaza Strip reported that at least 436 people, including 182 children, lost their lives in the past 24 hours, highlighting the relentless violence.
Israeli forces have not spared medical facilities in their attacks. Notably, the areas near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City and Al-Quds Hospital in the western part of the Gaza Strip have been subjected to Israeli air force shelling, as reported by Palestine's WAFA news agency.
These strikes, according to sources, appear to be aimed at hindering the operations of the already overwhelmed healthcare system, further complicating efforts to save lives.
The dire situation has led the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza to appeal for blood donations to address the severe shortage experienced by hospitals in the region. They have called on residents to urgently donate blood at hospitals and blood banks throughout Gaza. Additionally, the ministry has requested the International Committee of the Red Cross to assist in delivering blood to the territory.
Josep Borrell, the European Union's top diplomat, has echoed the United Nations' call for a ceasefire to enable more aid trucks to enter the Gaza Strip. Borrell emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian support to reach Gaza, recognizing the critical situation faced by its residents.
