2023 Junior World Weightlifting C’ships: Iran’s Paydar Wins Silver
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Arya Paydar seized a silver medal at the 2023 Junior World Weightlifting Championships.
The Iranian heavyweight weightlifter won the silver in the men’s 109kg category. He lifted 168kg in snatch and 205kg in clean and jerk and came second with a total of 373kg.
Polish weightlifter Mykyta Rubanovskyi snatched the gold medal with 374kg and the bronze medal went to Georgia’s Giorgi Kirvalidze with 364kg.
Iran has sent 10 weightlifters to the Championships, underway in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The competition started in the Mexican city on November 15 and will run through November 23.
A total of 229 lifters from 44 countries are taking part in the 2023 IWF World Junior Weightlifting Championships.
