Israeli Bombing in Rafah Claims One Life, Causes Injuries: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least one person was killed and several others were injured in Rafah when an Israeli warplane bombed an apartment building at dawn, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources.

The bombing occurred in the Tal as-Sultan neighborhood to the west of Rafah, home to over 1.3 million Palestinians living in dangerously overcrowded conditions.

Palestinians were seen searching among the rubble of a mosque and other buildings destroyed in Rafah on Wednesday.

Wafa reported that dozens of people were killed and others injured in the Israeli bombing of Omar bin Abdul-Aziz Mosque in the al-Tanour neighborhood.

Israeli forces entered Al-Khair Hospital between Khan Younis and Rafah, according to the latest update from the UN humanitarian agency (OCHA).

Three hospitals and an ambulance headquarters face a siege in Khan Younis, with Nasser Hospital, Al-Amal Hospital, Al-Aqsa Hospital, and the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) ambulance headquarters affected.

At Nasser Hospital, due to nearby bombardment, "no one can enter or exit," leaving approximately 400 dialysis patients in urgent need of treatment, notes OCHA.

Health staff at Nasser Hospital are compelled to dig graves on the hospital grounds, anticipating potential casualties and fatalities amid heavy fighting.

The ongoing hospital siege and Israeli hostilities in southern Gaza highlight critical humanitarian challenges, requiring immediate intervention for the safety and well-being of the affected population.

In Rafah, where over 1.3 million people are displaced, Palestinian children classed outdoors on the International Day of Education near Beer al-Saba school, amid tents and classrooms serving as temporary residences for affected families.

UN statistics reveal extensive damage to education infrastructure in Gaza, with 372 school buildings damaged, 12 completely destroyed, and 99 suffering serious damage.

Over the past three months, more than 625,000 students and 22,564 teachers have been deprived of safe access to education, emphasizing the urgent need for rebuilding and restoring educational facilities.

Over a million Palestinians, forcibly relocated by Israel, seek shelter in overcrowded conditions in southern Gaza's Rafah.
