Iran Discovers Rivals at 2024 Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was drawn in Group A of the 10th edition of the Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship.

The draw ceremony was held in the Iran handball federation’s headquarters in Tehran, capital of Iran, on Sunday.

The event will bring a total of 13 teams from across Asia to Tehran from August 25 to September 3.

Groups:
Group A: Iran, India, Iraq
Group B: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE
Group C: Korea Republic, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei
Group D: Japan, Kuwait, China, Jordan

This edition of the championship marks the second time Tehran will be hosting the event, following their successful hosting in 2006.

The defending champion and record titleholder is the Republic of Korea, who clinched victory in 2005, 2014, and 2022.

The competition will also serve as a qualification event for the 11th IHF Men’s Youth (U19) Handball World Championship in Slovenia, scheduled for July/August 2025.

The top five teams from this competition will earn qualification spots for the World Championship.
