Terrorist Attack Targeting IRGC Base in SE Iran Foiled

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An attack by the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group on an Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) base in Rask, Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan was repelled.

Members of the terror outfit attempted to enter the base in the late hours of Wednesday but failed after resistance from the base’s fighters.

They first opened fire on the base from the hills near the city’s hospital, which were met with IRGC forces’ fire.

Then a number of terrorists attempted to enter the base by making explosions but they failed thanks to the vigilance of the IRGC forces.  

Alireza Marhamati, the provincial governor’s deputy for security and law enforcement, said in the early hours of Thursday that clashes and shootings had ended and the IRGC forces were tracking the terrorists and purging the area.

“The assailants were confronted with thanks to the preparedness of the military and law enforcement forces,” he said, noting that several attackers had been either killed or injured during the confrontation.

“The security situation is under control,” Marhamati added.

The so-called Jaish ul-Adl, a terror outfit that was formed in 2012 and has conducted several attacks on the Iranian soil in recent years.
