Iran’s Third Goal Squashed Our Hopes: Miguel Rodrigo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thailand coach Miguel Rodrigo said the third goal by Iran squashed their hopes of mounting a fightback.

Thailand lost to Iran 4-1 at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand 2024 final on Sunday

“I thought we could come back even after conceding twice but the third goal by Iran squashed our hopes of mounting a fightback,” said Rodrigo. “Iran was far more superior and fully deserved to win the title. Congratulations to them.”

“I would really like to stay on as head coach of Thailand and continue working with the national team. My contract is expiring but I'm really looking forward to coaching this team again. Thailand has a special place in my heart and I’m willing to continue on this journey.

“The World Cup is not going to be easy for Thailand. We will be facing stiff competition, especially from the eastern European teams who are physically better developed than Asian players,” the Spaniard added.
