Iran Imports $134 Million of Indian Rice in Two Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – India’s Ministry of Trade and Commerce said the Asian country exported $134 million of rice to Iran in the first two months of the current year (January and February).

The total trade exchanges between Iran and India in January and February 2024 hit $377 million, showing a 5% hike compared to the same period last year, the ministry added.

The value of the trade exchanges between the two countries was $358 million in January and February 2023.

In the first two months of 2024, India exported $269 million worth of products to Iran, showing a 20% growth compared to last year’s corresponding period.

India had exported $224 million worth of products to Iran in January and February 2023.

India imported $108 million worth of products from Iran between January and February 2024, showing a 19% decline compared to the same period last year.

Fresh fruits, raw materials for producing paint, and oil products were among the main products exported from Iran to India in the first two months of the current year.

In return, India exported rice, fruit and oily seeds to Iran in this period, the report added.
