Iran Registers Over 14,500 Covid Infections in Past 24 Hours

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Health Ministry reported on Friday that 14,525 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, 2,123 of whom were hospitalized.

The Ministry’s report indicated that some 235 more Iranians have died from the coronavirus disease over the past 24 hours bringing the total death toll to 120,663.

It also indicated that some 5,841 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition or intensive care units.

The Health Ministry also brought the number of Iranians people who have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to 39,418,779, among which, 16,408,496 individuals have received the second dosage of their vaccine so far.

The number of weekly COVID-19 cases and deaths continued to decline globally, the World Health Organization has said, noting that the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases globally now stand at over 231 million and the cumulative number of deaths is more than 4.7 million.

The WHO update said that the highest numbers of new cases were reported from the US (765,827 new cases; 31 percent decrease), Brazil (247,397 new cases; 135 percent increase due to changes in reporting), the United Kingdom (230,494 new cases; 14 percent increase), India (204,582 new cases; similar to previous week), and Turkey (192,778 new cases; similar to previous week).
