No Place for Foreign Interference in Region: Iranian President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi described collective interaction among the regional countries as the main factor blocking foreign interference.

In a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held on the sidelines of the 15th ECO Summit in Ashgabat on Sunday, President Raisi highlighted the great capacities for regional cooperation.

“In the world’s current situation, the cooperation among the regional countries would turn many threats into opportunities, as there will be no more room for interference from the foreign countries with the active presence of the regional countries,” he added.

Expressing Iran’s readiness to boost relations with Uzbekistan in various fields, such as transportation, the energy industry, and the fight against terrorism, President Raisi said the foreign ministers of the two countries should devise a road map to long-term cooperation between the two nations.

For his part, the Uzbek president appreciated Iran’s active policy in the region, stressing that regional peace and stability would materialize with the participation of the local nations.

He also described the potential for economic relations and trade exchanges as a suitable ground for the promotion of ties between Uzbekistan and Iran, calling for an increase in the volume of trade exchanges.

The two presidents then talked about the situation in Afghanistan, with both stressing the need for the formation of an inclusive Afghan government and the establishment of peace and sustainable security in that country.
