Iran Edges India in Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran edged past India 25-24 in the Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship on Monday.

On Sunday, the Iranian girls defeated Kazakhstan 20-19 in the 9th Asian Championship.

Iran, who defeated Uzbekistan in its opening match on Friday, will meet Syria on Wednesday.

The competition is being held from March 18 to 25 in Almaty, Kazakhstan under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation.

It also acts as the qualification tournament for the 2022 Women's Youth World Handball Championship, with the top four teams from the championship directly qualifying for the event, to be held in Georgia.

Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Syria and India  compete in the competition.
