OPEC Expects Global Oil Demand Surging to 110 Million BPD by 2045: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) sees global oil demand to rise to 110 million barrels per day (bpd) and overall energy demand to rise 23% by 2045.

OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais said on Monday that the demand for oil in the world would increase to 110 million barrels of oil per day (bpd), Reuters news agency reported.

The prediction came one week after the International Energy Agency (IEA) said oil demand growth would slow over the next few years, dropping from 2.4 million barrels per day this year to 400,000 barrels per day in 2028.

The Agency made the prediction using the rapid use of electric vehicles, greater fuel efficiency and "other technologies" that are hurting demand growth.
