Iran Attracts $1.5 Billion of FDI in 2022, UNCTAD Says
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in its latest report on Sunday pointed to a five-percent growth in Iran’s attraction of foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2022.
Iran has attracted the most foreign capital in the Middle East region after Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain, the report added.
The figures released by the UNCTAD indicated that Iran could attract $1.5 billion worth of foreign investment within the framework of Foreign Direct Investment in 2022.
This is while Iran had attracted 1.425 billion in FDI in 2021.
The amount of FDI attracted in Iran in 2022 has increased $75 million compared to a year earlier.
Iran had experienced a declining trend from 2018 to 2020 in terms of attraction of Foreign Direct Investment but the country witnessed a considerable hike of FDI from 2021 to 2022, the UNCTAD continued.
Iran also had $100 million of Foreign Direct Investment in 2022 in other countries, the rate of which stood at $82 million in 2021, according to the report.
