Esteghlal Edges Havadar, Persepolis Defeats Paykan: IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football team beat Havadar 1-0 in the 2023-24 Iran Professional League (IPL) on Sunday, while Persepolis defeated Paykan 2-0.
In Tehran’s Dastgerdi Stadium, Esteghlal just needed 43 seconds to open the goal. Armin Sohrabian was on target with a header.
In Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Persepolis defender Mohammad Hossein Kanaani scored twice against Paykan to seal a 2-0 win for the host.
Sepahan beat Gol Gohar 2-0 in Isfahan, thanks to goals from Reza Shekari and Kaveh Rezaei.
Aluminum beat Nassaji 1-0 in Arak, Mes came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Zob Ahan in Rafsanjan and Malavan defeated Sanat Naft 1-0 in Bandar Anzali.
Esteghlal Khuzestan and Foolad played out a goalless draw in the Ahvaz derby.

Esteghlal sits top with 46 points, three points adrift of Persepolis.
Tractor is third with 38 points with a game in hand and Sepahan is fourth with 37 points with two games in hand.
